MOOC Final Project PPT

Sample PowerPoint: Where I'm From

This presentation was created as an example presentation to aid students in implementing the fundamentals of creating a PowerPoint presentation.

2018-2019 MOOC Project
The topic I have chosen for my 2018-2019 MOOC Final Portfolio is one that can be utilised in a multitude of subject areas. This year I was fortunate to work with a number of students in sexto. With them being on the verge of transitioning into secondary, there were often areas of preparation that my students inquired about. One question that I found to be the most frequent was how to prepare presentations. By this point in their academic lives, most of my students had become familiar with the idea of using a poster to display information. Be it for their presentation on the human body, their geography illustrations, or projects on their favourite musician the “poster method” had run its course. Many of my older students were now ready to discover new ways to not only prepare information, but to also present it. In comes the infamous POWERPOINT. As a communication major, I found that this topic was a perfect behind the scenes glance into what interpersonal/organisation is (an engaged approach to understanding everyday life from a communication perspective; how to present information and ensure that it is properly received) and how it is part of our efforts even in primary school. It is my hope that with this project, students will better understand an universally embraced method for project presentation that they can potentially use for the rest of their lives.

·Following the lesson/presentation, the students will take a “bonus quiz” on the material. Wrong answers won’t count against them, however if they earn a certain number of points (5) the teacher will grant them 1-3 bonus points on an upcoming assignment or exam.
How will you be evaluating the activities?
·The “bonus quiz” will serve as a quick evaluation of the presentations effectiveness.
How will the students know they have achieved the learning objectives?

I will use be actively speaking to the students, so they will hear me reciting information regarding the proper way to conduct a presentation. I will use the PowerPoint slides as a video aid. The prepared PPT slides will show on the audio/video screen.
